Agriculture Department
Functions
a) To obtain maximum output from the existing fleet of bulldozers on Subsidized Hire Rates, within the available resources, b)
Reclamation / Development of culturable waste, c)
Leveling of Agricultural Land, d)
Construction of Dykes / Sailaba Bundat, i. to harness the runoff of rainfall, thus conserving moisture
for utilization in Sailaba(flood) cultivation, ii. preparation of new land on stream bed, which is formed after
silting up, e) Construction of micro dams for the storage of flash-water with a view to maintain and recharge the aquifer to ensure regular availability of irrigation water through neighboring springs,
tube wells, and open surface wells, f) Restoration of flood damages to agricultural fields, roads and
railway tracks during emergency, g) Provision of agricultural machinery to farmers on subsidized rates for harvesting and threshing of wheat and paddy.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE The
Agricultural Engineering Department headed by a qualified engineer of the
rank of Director (B-19). He is assisted by one Agricultural Engineer
(Administration), two Superintending Engineer, six Agricultural Engineers
(B-18), two Agricultural Engineer (Field), forty Assistant Agricultural
Engineer (B-17) and twenty others officers. Jointly they are responsible for
field work, workshops’ maintenance, running department’s stores,
maintaining accounts and dealing with administrative affairs. The human
resource strength of the department is 1952.
Technical Facilities Thirteen
(13) workshops at Quetta, Khuzdar, Turbat, Loralai, Sibi, Zhob, Kohlu, Dera
Murad Jamali, Kharan, Uthal, Panjgur and Gwadar districts exist, where all
types of major and minor repairs to department’s agriculture machinery are
carried out. The department also has “Farm Machinery Testing Sub
Station” and “Tractor Operator Training Institute” at Quetta. Thirty-five
(35) easily accessible fields/units are working in the province where the
staff headed by an Assistant Agricultural Engineer is permanently stationed
to serve the farmers by providing services of bulldozers.
