Balochistan Coastal Development Authority

Coastal areas of Balochistan offer great potential for investment in development of fish harbors cum mini ports, shrimp farming, establishment of hatcheries, appropriate industries and tourist resorts especially. Gwadar Deep See Port project, being executed at a brisk pace, and development of coastal highways have already paved way for both national and international investors.

Need for preservation, maintenance and exploitation of development potential of coastal areas of the province resulted in establishment of Balochistan Coastal Development Authority (BCDA) through a bill passed by the Balochistan Provincial Assembly on 24th January 1998. BCDA is entrusted the responsibility to harness full potential of the coastal areas to the benefit everyone concerned, embalming indigenous coastal environment and marine life. Goal of all the development activities initiated by BCDA revolves around promotion of socio-economic condition of the Balochistan coastal areas.

The jurisdiction of the BCDA extends to the coastal areas of Balochistan and adjoins of upland areas up to 30 km from the high tide water line, excluding township villages, defense and other Federal Government installations. LIEDA and Gaddani Ship Breaking Yard are also concomitant for coastal areas’ development.
