The Current Year’s Development Budget 2004-05
Size of the current year’s provincial development budget is Rs. 12.871 billion, comprising a local government’s share of Rs. 11.435 billion and Rs. 1.436 billion that of foreign assistance’s, in addition to Rs. 21016.616 million expected to be received from programs outside the provincial Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) 2004-05 . This budget is allocated to implement 501 ongoing and 848 new schemes. Road sector gets the lion’s share with 35% of the development resources to execute 402 projects. Education sector gets much higher priority than ever before for its 136 projects that will cost Rs. 1831.094 million from the provincial resources. Education sector will also get Rs. 395.439 million in the current year from federal PSDP for another 19 schemes. Irrigation & power, health and water supply schemes follow the education sector on the priority list. Special attention has been given to Quetta city, the provincial capital. Rs. 50 million will be spent to make the city clean and a better place to live.
