Quetta Development Authority

Quetta Development Authority was established in 1976 by the Government of Balochistan. The jurisdiction of the Authority extends over Quetta Tehsil including Quetta Municipal Corporation limits and all such other areas which the Government may notify from time to time for development purpose with the following Charter / Mandate .

Establishing Housing Schemes.

Opening of congested areas.

Laying / altering roads / streets.

Provision of public amenities.

Execution of water supply and sewerage works.

Demolishing / improving / construction of buildings.

Execution of schemes entrusted by the Government.

The General Direction and Administration of the Authority and its affairs vest in the Governing Body which exercise all powers and do all acts and things which may be exercised or done by the Authority.

The Governing Body shall consists of a Chairman, a Director General, and Eight other Members to be appointed by the Provincial Government.

The members of the Governing Body are as under:

1. Nazim, City District Government Quetta Chairman

2. Nazim, Zarghoon Town, Quetta Member

3. Nazim, Chilten Town, Quetta Member.

4. District Coordination Officer Quetta Member.

5. Station Commander, Quetta Cantt Member.

6. Director General, Water Resources, Govt: of Balochistan Member

7. Director General, Environmental Protection Agency

Govt: of Balochistan, Quetta Member.

8. Manageing Director, B-WASA Member.

9. District Administration Officer, Quetta Member

10. Director General, QDA Secy:/ Member.

Functions

The QDA was established to cater the multi dimensional needs of the new Capital and only urban center of Balochistan. The main mission of QDA was to solve Housing requirements, organized planning, master planning, major improvement, decongestion and environment protection. Control over land use and expansion of the City according to the integrated Master Plan.

The QDA had played vital role to give urban concept and is only and pioneer organization of its field. The QDA decongested the City by shifting un-desire able land uses, such as shifting of Bus / Truck stand from down Town area to Sirki Road and subsequently to Hazarganji. Opening of City expansion by constructing By-passes which has also very positive effects to decongest the City.

QDA has planned equipped with civil amenities, new housing schemes so far QDA executed lot of projects for general and major improvement of the City and also prepared a master plan to give right and planned growth to the City.

GENERAL INFORMATION REGARDING DEPARTMENT

Whereas it is expedient to make provision for the development and improvement of certain areas in Quetta District by opening up congested areas, laying out or altering streets, providing public amenities like parks, gardens, and play grounds, executing works for water supply and sewerage or by demolishing, improving or constructing buildings; for the acquisition of land for such development of improvement, including the re-housing of persons affected there by and certain other persons for the preparation and execution of development or improvement schemes, building research schemes and similar other schemes; and for matters connected there with or incidental thereto.
