Communication, Works, PP&H (C&W) Department

Communication and Works department shoulders responsibilities to construct and maintain the road network and government buildings. In a quest for better delivery of services, the department has developed necessary expertise, required by the assigned jobs and expanded to a considerable extent as an institute.

To execute all construction, repair and rehabilitation works, a set up for testing construction material and work, both in the field and in the laboratory, to ensure quality, exists. Technical and support staff is available at both Division and Tehsil levels.

For socio-economic development of any region, road infrastructure is a basic requirement. Existing physical infrastructure, in terms of the rural access roads, in Balochistan province is underdeveloped and does not contribute significantly to economic activities. In Balochistan, access to various places is mostly by shingle roads or tracks, which are not all weather roads. Difficult terrain and the scattered nature of the settlements further aggravate accessibility conditions.

Buildings

a. Construction, maintenance, repairs and fixation of rent of all residential and non residential government buildings, dak bungalows and circuit houses and supply of equipment.

b. Public health works pertaining to government buildings and residential estates.

c. Coordination between the federal government, provincial government’s departments and agencies regarding implementation of National Housing Policy.

Roads

a. Construction, maintenance and repairs of provincial, district and rural roads, bridges, tunnels and causeway etc.

b. Coordination with the federal government / National Highway Authority regarding construction and maintenance of national highways.

c. Tolls (excluding those levied by Local Bodies and Local Councils).

Others

a. Service matters except those entrusted to Services and General Administration department, Balochistan.
