Provinces to get additional Rs. 227 bln: Tarin |

GWADAR: Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin said that the provinces will get additional Rs. 227 billion this year as a result of new National Finance Commission (NFC) Award effective from July 2010.
He was speaking at the signing ceremony of NFC Award by the finance ministers of Punjab, Sindh, NWFP and Balochistan in the presence of Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani, federal cabinets and four chief ministers at a local hotel.
He said that currently provinces were getting Rs 550 billion. Now they will get more than Rs. 850 billion next year and in next five years the additional amount will grow to Rs. 1250 billion.
“This is the first step towards financial autonomy of the provinces and a victory of democracy”, he said.
