QUETTA: Population Welfare Department was working on a project for proper period among the child birth and it is totally wrong that it was engaged in genocide. This was stated by Chairman National Assembly Standing Committee on Population Welfare Muhammad Haneef Abbasi while chairing meeting of the Committee here Monday.

Members of the Committee Maulvi Asmatullah, Mrs. Rubina Saadat Qaimkhani, Begum Naism Akhtar Chaudhry, Mrs. Rahila Baloch, Dr. Naheed Shahid Ali, Secretary Population Welfare Asmatullah Kakar, DG Abdul Ghaffar and Dr. Asia Mengal Principal RTI attended.

Haneef Abbasi regretted that people were not informed about work of this department since its establishment and it was being taken negatively. He said there is need awareness among the people should be created about it so that growing population should be controlled and new born should be cared of properly.

He said seminars and symposia should be organized at Schools, Universities and other institutions as it would help meet this problem. If Ulema and media should activeness the problem would be resolved earlier.

Secretary Population Welfare Asmatullah Kakar informed the meeting that funds to be received by province under Aghaz e Huqooq Balochistan, speedy development of this sector would also be possible.
