Constitutional package on provincial rights soon: Zardari Print E-mail
QUETTA: President Asif Ali Zardari Thursday said the federal government was working to introduce a Constitutional package in March which would ensure provision of rights to provinces. Talking to Balochistan cabinet members at Chief Minister House here, he said: “Balochistan has a specific strategic importance which cannot be ignored”. He noted that Balochistan is the largest province and its coastline has a special geographical position. 

President Zardari said the democratic government was working on an agenda to strengthen democracy and provision of basic rights to the masses.


He said consensus on 7th National Finance Commission Award (NFC) and Aghaz-i-Haqooq-i-Balochistan Package were great achievements of the Pakistan Peoples Party government.


He mentioned that Aghaz-i-Haqooq-i-Balochistan package was beginning to provide rights to the people of Balochistan, adding that PPP led government would do a lot more to redress grievances of the people of the province. 


He said the government has planned of various dams to make Balochistan to a lush green province, adding that latest technology would be used to construct those dams. He asked the local agriculture sector to cultivate cash crops after completion of those dams in their province.


The President Asif Ali Zardari also replied answers of to questions by some Cabinet members.


Federal Information Minister Qamaruz Zaman Kaira, Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Federal Minister Arbab Alamgir Khan, and Federal Minister and chairperson Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) Ms Farzana Raja were also present.
