ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Monday directed the Ministry of Petroleum and Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC) to submit a detailed report on outstanding rent payable to the owners of gas fields at Sui within a week and clear it without any delay. He also directed that a new rent agreement should be negotiated with the owners keeping in view the principal of parity with other gas fields of the country.

The Prime Minister issued these directives in a meeting with Leader of the Jamhoori Watan Party, Nawab Talal Akbar Bugti, who called on him along with a delegation of notables from Balochistan at Prime Minister House here.
The Prime Minister said his government was according top priority to the development of backward regions.

He said reconciliation with all the political forces in every part of the country was essential to channelize the political energies for economic development and prosperity of the common man.
The Prime Minister said the development of Balochistan was high on the agenda of the Federal government and all necessary measures would be taken in that direction to mitigate the sufferings of the people of the province.

He expressed the hope that Agahz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan would go a long way in building trust amongst the leadership and the people of Balochistan and a step to bringing the province at par with other areas of the country.

Gilani said he was personally monitoring the implementation of the Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan to ensure timely actions on various initiatives undertaken by the government.
The Prime Minister expressed the confidence that the initiatives undertaken would prove a milestone in the socio-economic development of Balochistan.

Talal Akbar Bugti apprised the Prime Minister on various matters relating to the province. He lauded the role of Prime Minister Gilani for his personal interest in the development of Balochistan.
The meeting was also attended by Acting Managing Director OGDC, representative of Ministry of Petroleum and other senior government officials.
